There are different options for insulating your home. A fairly common choice that many homeowners are making these days is the blown insulation. Blown insulation is relatively inexpensive. It can also be done by the homeowner without much trouble. Most home improvement stores will rent the equipment necessary for this project. Home improvement stores usually rent the equipment for 48 hours. You will need to get started shortly after renting the equipment because it can take an entire weekend to complete.

You will want to wear the proper clothing for this kind of project. Installing insulation can be a very itchy job if you are not fully protected. Luckily this has changed some with the introduction of some other types of insulation. Still, it is not the cleanest of jobs so regardless of the form of insulation you are blowing, you will want to dress appropriately. It is recommended that you wear long sleeve shirts, pants, a respirator, and goggles. Gloves for your hands will also be needed. This should give you the maximum protection against the insulation. If you do get insulation on skin, you will want to wash it off as soon as possible. This should help prevent your skin from itching too much. Skin irritations from insulation can last for a few days so take the precautions to prevent this from happening.
