Repairing Nail Holes

Nail holes can turn a nice looking room into something that is not desirable, but there is a simple way to fix these little unsightly blemishes. Though you can not just paint over these tiny little holes, you will be able to fix them with out much fuss. You will only need a few things to begin this project so don’t think that it is too big to complete on your own.

You will need a putty knife, sand paper, spackle or compound of your choice, and matching paint. Once you have all of your supplies you can begin to prep to the areas that you will be working on. If you have not already removed the nails, you will need to do that first. Try not to rip any of the paper around the nail hole, if you have pulled some loose try to push it back into the hole. If you are not able to do this, use a knife to remove the paper. You want the area to be a small as possible. You will want to sand any excess debris from around the hole before you begin to repair it.

The first step is to make sure that you have cleaned the area well. Once you have completed this you may begin to fill the hole with the compound. The compound may shrink once it has dried so you may need to add a second layer. When all layers have dried you are going to want to sand it down so that it is flush with the wall. You will want to sand in a circular motion. This will give you the best blending option. Once you have finished with this step, you are ready to paint. Make sure that you have matched up the right paint colors.
