Cleaning Your Carpet

Admittedly, I am probably not the best cleaner in the world. My wife does the majority of it and she does it well. However, she convinced me that I needed to vacuum the carpet in the living room the other day. With two kids that enjoy playing in the living room, often with messy things, the carpet was bound to get abused. While vacuuming I noticed several spots and things from where drinks have been spilt and candy had been stuck to the floor. You could really see the wear on the carpet in the high traffic areas from kids.

My wife being the perfectionist that she is and with a new baby coming she decided it was time to clean the carpets. I was really astonished at how well the carpets turned out when she got done with them. She used a steamer that we had purchased a while ago from Wal-Mart.

The steamer worked as it was intended and really revived a lot of the carpet. She also used some type of fragrance spray along with the steamer which made the carpet have a cinnamon and sugar type smell to it. It smells great and very clean. The spots that appeared to have been worn down from the traffic were lifted back up. The carpet looks new again.

The total cost was probably roughly $65 for the steamer. The fragrance spray was probably another $5.00. It was enough to complete the whole house. It took roughly three hours to complete, but took another four hours to allow the carpet to dry. It is highly recommended that after you clean you should leave the house and avoid walking on it while it is still wet from the steam vacuum.
