Tips for Your Yard Work

It is that time of the year again. We are all dusting off our lawn mowers and getting them working again for the summer. The only problem is, it probably sit idle all winter long. You may have a dead battery or clogged carburetor on it. Still, even if it is working it is a good time to get your lawn mower serviced.

My recommendation would be to take it out and see if it starts. If it doesn’t, take it to a mechanic that works on lawn mower engines. They should know how to repair it. Normally it is just something small that has caused the problem, especially if it worked fine last time you used it. Some professional cleaning should be all that it would need.

If it does start, you should still get the oil changed. More than likely it has been sitting in there all winter long, probably still slightly gooey from last years mowing. If this is you, go find a manual on your lawn mower and change the oil. This will ensure that it will run better this upcoming summer as well as last you longer.

Also, really evaluate the pressure on your tires. Generally they might be getting low after sitting in very cold weather. You would be better served by ensuring that they have the necessary tire pressure. If you find a flat one, do not drive it flat! Either replace it or get it fixed before driving.
