Making concrete countertops
The concrete counter top has become quit popular lately. One of the biggest advantages to building concrete counter tops is that they are relatively inexpensive to build. Relatively inexpensive, if you are considering marble or granite counter tops throughout the entire kitchen. From a durability stand point they will out last the house that’s built around them. They have also become quit sheik and can have an assortment of tones to match any interior. In considering a concrete counter top, the items you will need for this project are as such; cement, gravel, a concrete form, sealant, sink and faucet knockouts, pigment coloring, melamine and silicone caulking.
Custom building your own concrete counter top has a great deal of advantages as well. The counter top can be formed into any shape, size and thickness. A concrete counter top can also be formed, poured and completed right on top of the cabinets themselves so that you do not have the inconvenience of moving the counter top and placing it in your kitchen.
Creating a form for the counter top is extremely cost effective and relatively easy to do. After the concrete has been poured in the form, you should allow the concrete to dry at least 24 hours before you remove the forms. It’s important to remember that the longer the concrete cures the stronger the finished product will be.
