In my time, I have learned to repair or replace certain things in the home. I can replace a garbage disposal, wire ceiling fans, hang mini blinds, put up a shelf with lumber I  measured, cut and painted myself – and replace simple plumbing fixtures, like the innards of a toilet tank.

I draw the line at projects I know I can’t do myself. I won’t tackle building a deck or replacing windows. That is definitely not within my sphere of home improvement knowledge. For anything beyond the simple things, I will call a contractor. (more…)
