There is a very strong case for finding the right contractor to install your windows if you decide not to pursue installing them yourself. A good contractor will work quickly, keep the jobsite clean, and insure that your windows are working properly and sealed effectively. Finding a contractor who specializes in window replacements is even better.

Compare it to a surgery. A general surgeon has the capability to perform surgery, but if you have a brain tumor, you are going to want a brain surgeon because they know the process and are experts in brain surgery. A poorly installed window can lead to years of headache and heartache.

Window Installer Questions has a great list of questions to ask a window contractor before hiring them for your project. Treat the choice of installers as importantly as the windows and you can’t go wrong.

I agree. We’ve been installing replacement windows for over 30 years. Vinyl has come a long way. Even wood interiors are available, or paintable/stainable woodgrain laminates. We have vinyl installations going back 25 years that are still going strong. Like anything in life, if you buy quality it lasts. Not all vinyl windows are at the same quality level just like any other product. The best value for the money (including energy efficiency and Tax Credits) is still vinyl.
