Faucet Types

When you decide it is time to replace your faucet in your bathroom remodeling project, you must first determine which type is currently installed in your sink. Bathroom sink faucets come in a wide variety of styles from plastic models to high quality brass units. Standard faucets include widespread faucet sets, Center-set faucets, single-hole faucets, and wall-mounted faucets.

Each piece of a widespread faucet is separate. You have a spout with separate hot and cold water handles. These sets are available from 6 inch to 16 inch drillings for three-hole pre-drilled installation basins

Center-set faucets combine a spout and both valves on a single base unit. Center set faucets may incorporate a single handle mixing lever or even two handles mounted upon a 6 inch plate. These types of faucets are created for 4 inch pre-drilled with three-hole installation basins.

Single hole (or single lever) faucets only require one-hole drill installation basins. These bathroom faucets have a spout and one mixing handle for both hot and cold water. This provides for a single-handed control. Some brands of single-hole faucets have an optional 6 inch cover plate for pre-drilled 4 inch installations.

A wall-mounted faucet requires a separate wall-mount valve and drain for installation. This type of faucet is perfect for above-the-counter and freestanding basins that may require a longer spout for an extended reach. Be sure to recognize the adequate amount of clearance from the spout to the basin. If purchasing a wall-mounted faucet, make sure the spout is long enough to reach your sink.

When deciding on the perfect faucet type that will suit your bathroom remodeling needs, remember to contact your local bathroom contractor. By doing this, you will gain information and help in determining which type of faucet will clearly suit your new bathroom style and design.
